In the third quarter of this year, sea transport between Gozo and Malta registered decreases in commuters and in trips. In the third quarter of 2008, commuters between Gozo and Malta decreased by 0.3 per cent, totalling 1,302,093 when compared to the same period in 2007. Conversely, the number of vehicles carried by scheduled vessels went up by two per cent, totalling 331,334. The number of trips in the third quarter stood at 5,667, implying a decrease of 1.3 per cent over the comparable period last year. An art exhibition which has been organised by Mrs Sonja Sinclair Stevenson Lindblad, is currently being held in aid of the the Friends of The Sick and Elderly. The exhibition features photographs on aluminium by Professor of Neurology Dr Hans Joachim von Budingen, and sculptures by world renowned Johannes Dorflinger. The exhibition was recently opened by H.E. Dr E. Fenech Adami, President of Malta. Viewings can be arranged by appointment up to the 30th of November 2008. The Malta Library and Information Association (MaLIA) is making an official proposal for a Cultural Centre to be constructed in place of the ruins of the Royal Opera House in Valletta. MaLIA is proposing that this Cultural Centre that should include a state-of-the-art modern public library that will provide all the modern services and facilities that are provided by other public libraries in major cities across all Europe and other parts of the world. There is no doubt that such a location would be ideal to offer the best possible services to users and entice new users to visit the place. AD Chairperson Arnold Cassola has expressed his party's sympathy and condolences to the family of Labour MP Karl Chircop who was declared clinically dead yesterday. Dr. Cassola said, "This is a difficult moment for Dr. Chircop's family. Dr. Chircop was always of service to his country and, as a doctor, to his patients. Dr. Chircop will be remembered by us all as a man who contributed selflessly towards his country and worked tirelesly for his ideals."

With 34,152 reports of internet websites with child-pornography content only in the first nine months, 2008 is looming as the record breaking year for online pedophilia, its numbers practically doubling since 2006 to today. The Rainbow Phone Organisation, which is based in Milan, Italy, has for many years been dedicated to working against the expansion of online child pornography.
