Enemalta have advised that there will be power suspensions in Gharb tomorrow,Thursday the 9th of October, between the hours of 8.00am and 3.30pm. The following areas will be affected by these scheduled power suspensions: Triq L-Isqof Mikiel Molina and Triq ta' Sdieri.

Next Sunday, the 12th of October 2008, Ghasri, the smallest village in Gozo, celebrates the popular feast of the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The chapel is situated on the way to Wied il-Ghasri (Ghasri Valley). The building of this chapel dates back to 1738 and it soon attracted devotees from all over the island. In fact it was rebuilt on a larger scale in 1754. It was consecrated on 10th May 1789 thus becoming the first and only consecrated countryside chapel for 161 years. VOICES Tell Me Why, the 200-strong choir sponsored by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, has been playing to packed houses every night since the concerts begin on 1 October. The great response by the public meant that tickets were practically sold out even before the concerts started. While thanking the general public for showing its support to VOICES, the funds from which will all go to charity, the organising committee would like to announce that a special live programme about VOICES will be aired on TVM on Saturday 18th October at 9.15pm. Melita has invested €10 million in a new, state-of-the-art submarine fibre optic cable, connecting Malta to Sicily and the rest of the world. Almost 100km in length, the cable will provide increased capacity for international connectivity, improved redundancy and reliability, a superior performance and enhanced quality of service. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of famous Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, the Societa Filarmonica Leone is presenting the classic opera 'La Boheme', with local soprano Lydia Caruana cast as the principle vocalist. The opera, sponsored by Bank of Valletta will be held on the 11th of October at 7.30pm at the Aurora Opera House in Victoria, Gozo. The sponsorship was presented to Michael Caruana, president of the Societa Filarmonica Leone by Jack Thewma, manager of BOV's Gozo Branch.
