Gozo Tourism Meeting meets with Gozo University Group

The Gozo Tourism Association recently held a meeting with a delegation from the Gozo Universtity Group. The Gozo Tourism Association was represented by the Chairman Mr. Paul Scicluna, and the Chief Executive Office Mr. Joe Muscat, while the delegation from the Gozo University Group was headed by its President Mr. Ryan Mercieca.
The main objective of this meeting was to establish a working relationship between the two Gozitan entities that both strive in their different spheres with a Gozo Agenda. The Gozo Tourism Association Chairman, encouraged the newly formed GUG committee to continue its invaluable work aimed towards the benefits of the Gozitan students, who study and live in Malta. The GTA chairman stressed the point that hopefully some of the Gozitan University students will be in employment in the Gozitan tourism industry.
On their part the representatives of the Gozitan University students while reaffirming their determination to continue working in favour of Gozitan students, they expressed their wish to be more involved in matters related to the Gozitan social and economic issues. The Gozo University Group is currently lobbying to address certain difficulties faced by Gozitan students, particularly with regards to transport and accommodation. The Gozo University Group representatives stressed the point that the Gozitan university students deserve to be respected and appreciated like any other Maltese or foreign student.
The students representatives explained that another issue on the GUG agenda, is the possibility of Gozitan students, being able to sit for exams in Gozo, as well as the use of the video conferencing room at the Gozo University Centre for seminars and meetings.
Finally both sides expressed their wish to continue holding such meetings to create better communication between both entities, and to explore other co-operation opportunities which will prove beneficial to both the Gozo Tourism Association and the Gozo University Group.
