Frank Camilleri wins the the Prize Palma tad-Deheb 2011

Each year the San Lawrenz Feast Committee rewards a Young Gozitan emerging artist in the music field. This year, the twenty first edition of the award, ‘Prize Palma tad-Deheb 2011,’was given to Frank Camilleri, a young renowned Gozitan cello player.
At an early age Frank Camilleri, started his cello studies with Mro Valeriu Popovici. He continued his studies under the direction of Simon Abdilla Joslin.
Under his tuition Frank obtained the Associate in cello playing at the London College of Music. He played with several orchestras in Malta and abroad, including the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. In 2004 Frank was also chosen to be a member of an orchestra which has been formed for the EU celebrations in Finland.
In 2006 he became a full time member with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as forming part of the Cordia String Quartet. Frank has had also the pleasure of performing as a soloist in various recitals.
This prestigious reward was presented by the Parish Priest of Saint Lawrence, Parish Fr Ignatius Borg, during an activity which formed part of the festivities organised to mark the Patron Saint, Saint Lawrence.
