This coming Sunday, the 3rd of July, the Locality of Gharb will be celebrating the feast of the Visitation of Our Lady to St. Elizabeth.
An initiative introduced by the Local Council and which has been held on a yearly basis since 2003, is that of the ‘Infiorata,’ The Infiorata consists of a carpet made of fresh flowers and leaf petals, which, put together form a thematic design. This design includes the current year’s themes and anniversaries.
The works on it’s design starts weeks before the feast and on Sunday, the Feast day, a group of local volunteers made up of young children and adults gather together on the Church Parvis at around 2pm to start works on the laying of flowers.
The Infiorata is ready in time for the procession of the Visitation, which takes place later in the day, to pass over this carpet.
The Council would like to extend it’s best wishes for the feast and would also like to invite everyone to join in the celebrations.
