Religous Celebrations for the Blessed Virgin Mary ‘Ta’ Pinu’The Programme of Religious Celebrations, has been announced in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary ‘Ta’ Pinu’ celebrated at the National Sanctuary of the Assumption, limits of Gharb Gozo

Monday 20th June: Commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Coronation of the titular painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

7am, 8.30am: Holy Masses.

6.00pm: Meditation of the Holy Rosary and Eucharistic Benediction in the Chapel of Our Lady. 6.30pm: Solemn Thanksgiving Mass led by the Gozitan newly-ordained priests. Mass will be animated by Gharb Parish Choir directed by Can. Michael Galea.

Tuesday 21st June: Eve of the Feast of Our Lady Ta’ Pinu.

7am, 8.30am: Holy Masses.

6.00pm: Meditation of the Holy Rosary. 6.30pm: Translation of the Relic and Solemn High Mass presided by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech together with the priests who give pastoral service at the Sanctuary during the year. The First Vespers will be sung. Mass will be animated by the Stella Maris Choir directed by Mro. Carmel P. Grech.

Wednesday 22nd June: Solemnity of the 128th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Calling to Carmela Grima.

5am, 6am, 7am and 11.15am: Masses with homily at the Sanctuary.

9.00am: Solemn Concelebrated Pontifical Mass presided by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech together with Maltese priests and religious orders. Bishop Grech delivers an occasional homily. Mass will be animated by the Stella Maris Choir directed by Mro. Carmel P. Grech.

10.10am: The exact time of the calling – Recitation of the traditional Supplika to Our Lady and impartation of Eucharistic Benediction.

Between noon and 5.00pm: Eucharistic Adoration in silence at the Chapel of Our Lady.

5.30pm: Holy Mass led by Mgr Carmelo Gauci with the participation of the Prayer Group ‘Madonna Ta’ Pinu.’

6.30pm: Solemn Mass led by Mgr Joseph Sultana, Archpriest of the Visitation Parish (Gharb Gozo) together with the Reverend Chapter and Clergy of Gharb Basilica. The Second Vespers will be sung. The Gharb Parish Choir animates mass under the direction of Rev. Canon Michael Galea.

8.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass presided by H.L. Mgr Tommaso Caputo, Apostolic Nunctio for Malta, together with the Gozitan clergy. Mass will be said for the benefactors of the Sanctuary especially those who helped in the restoration of the dome and the stained glass windows. Mass will be animated by the Nativitas Choir accompanied on the organ by organist Ivan Attard.

9.00pm: Celebration of Holy Rosary aux flambaux led by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech with special prayers for the Maltese families. During the singing of the Litany, a procession with the replica painting of Our Lady Ta’ Pinu will be held. On return to the Sanctuary, Bishop Grech consecrates the Gozitan families to Our Lady ‘Ta’ Pinu.’

During this celebration, there will be the launching of four CDs containing the Rosary prayer by Santa Monica Choir (Birkirkara).

10.15pm: Recitation of the Closing Prayer and Eucharistic Benediction.

On the Feast Day of Our Lady Ta’ Pinu, the Sanctuary opens at 4.30am and closes at 10.30pm.
