Fatima Marian Apparitions being commemorated in Gozo

Next Friday, the 13th of May 2011, the Catholic Church commemorates the anniversary of the First Marian apparition which occurred in Fatima (Portugal).
In the Gozo Diocese, these apparitions are solemnly commemorated in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel popularly known as ‘Ta’ Hamet’ Church, in the limits of Xaghra / Xewkija. In this church, one finds the Diocesan Statue of Our Lady of Fatima which was blessed by H.H. Pope Pius XII in 1949.
The programme of activities for the first apparition is as follows:
5.30pm: Solemn Eucharistic Adoration animated by members of the Catholic Action in Gozo.
6.30pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, in which he inaugurates a campaign in favour of a morally clean environment, an initiative taken by the Catholic Action in Gozo. Organist Ivan Attard A.MusTCL animates mass.
7.30pm: Procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. During this procession, the Rosary will be recited and Marian hymns are sung. As soon as procession enters in the church (at around 8.30pm), all families will be consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Eucharistic Benediction is imparted.
The other apparitions will be celebrated as follows:
Monday 13th June 2011 – Mass at 7.30pm
Wednesday 13th July 2011 – Mass at 7.30pm (First Day of Solemn Triduum in Honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel)
Friday 19th August 2011 – Mass at 7.30pm
Tuesday 13th September 2011 – Mass at 7.00pm
Thursday 13th October 2011 – Mass at 6.30pm
The programme of activities for these apparitions is as follows:
5.30pm: Solemn Eucharistic Adoration, Recitation of the Holy Rosary, Solemn Mass followed by Procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Organist Ivan Attard A.MusTCL animates the celebration.
