The Gozo Stadium hosted a friendly game between the under nineteen international teams of Malta and Hungary. The game was made possible through the close collaboration of the Malta Football Association (MFA) and the Gozo Football Association (GFA).
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono. shook hands with the Hungarian and Maltese players and their respective officers, prior to the kick off. She was accompanied by the President of the MFA Mr Norman Darmanin Demajo along with other officials of the two sports organisations.
Although the Hungarian team beat the Maltese 3-1, it did not dampen the spirit and enjoyment of the students in the crowd from various schools around Gozo, who had gone to enjoy the match.
This was the first international match played in Gozo this year for the Maltese National team. They were led by coach Michael Molzahn and his assistant Vince Carbonaro.
