The Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz has said that as an eco friendly hotel, it is once again supporting this year’s Earth Hour which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, March the 26th at 8.30pm.
The aim of Earth Hour is to encourage people to switch off the lights for 1 hour at 8.30pm, to show commitment towards combating climate change and make the environment more sustainable.
Tomorrow, hundreds of millions of people and international landmarks across the globe will switch off the lights of homes and businesses for one hour – Earth Hour, the world’s largest public action for the environment is an initiative launched by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) four years ago, is a global call to take responsibility and action and thus lead the way towards a sustainable future.
The hotel said it will be asking its guests to go dark, while The Quintessence Spa and restaurants will be holding Earth Hour / Day specials.
The hotel went on to say that various events will take place to show its commitment to Earth Hour 2011, such as switching to minimal lighting internally and externally and non essential lights will be switched off, a tailored candlelit dinner as well as the availability of a special “green” cocktail drinks menu.
The hotel will also remind its guests to switch off the lights and air-conditioning in their room before making their way down to the restaurants or bars as their commitment is also important. Guests will be advised upon check-in about Earth Hour including the message that the hotel has committed to Earth Hour, the events happening on such an occasion in the hotel, and an appreciation of our guest’s support by turning off their lights.
Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz concluded by saying it has signed up at the official Earth Hour website to support and share its hotel’s ongoing actions for the planet with people around the world http://www.earthhour.org/.
