The stories covered in this weeks issue are:
1. Mgr George Bezzina of Victoria has been appointed administrator of St James church in Victoria by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. On Mgr Grech’s instruction, Mgr Bezzina will draw up a pastoral and financial report connected with the church and will also make an inventory of the church’s possessions. Mgr Bezzina, in collaboration with Fr Giovanni Curmi, Pastoral Secretary of the Diocese, will conduct a study on how to turn the church into a sanctuary of reconciliation.
2. Kenyan Bishop Mourice Makumba visited Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary and celebrated Mass together with Fr Gorg Grima, founder of the Missionary Movement Gesu fil-Proxxmu. Mgr Makumba also celebrated Mass in various churches around Malta and Gozo to thank the movement’s benefactors who are helping more than 11 homes for poor children in his Nakuru Diocese.
3. Kevin Meylaq, manager of the Lantern Restaurant of Marsalforn, recently presented a set of football kits to the Xghajra Tornadoes (under 19), who are taking part in the MFA’s Youths Section D league.
4. The plaster bust of the late Bishop Emeritus of Gozo, Nikol Cauchi, which will form part of his tombstone at the Gozo Cathedral, is on display at the cathedral in Victoria.
