The stories covered in this weeks issue are:
1. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech met media members on the feast of St Francis de Sales, patron saint of journalists. Mgr Grech, together with Mgr Carmelo Scicluna and Fr George Mercieca, celebrated Mass at the chapel of the Franciscan Sisters, Victoria, followed by a get-together.
2. As in previous years, during the Octave of Prayers for Church Unity, the Legion of Mary, Gozo, held the usual Ecumenical Service at St Augustine Church, Victoria, on Monday, January 17.
Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, Anglican Chaplain Fr. Jeff Williams and Rev.Doug Mc Roberts of the Scottish Community took part, while Rev Peter Paul Cachia OSA deputised for the Prior of St Augustine.
Bible readings, hymns and two homilies interspersed the service. The two speakers enphasised that Ecumenism should be today’s way forward. It reduces prejudice and augurs peace between the different denominations and hence the need for prayers. These help to make us ONE united in the Holy Spirit. Some Anglicans are already celebrating the Eucharist in a wayvery very similar to the Catholic Mass.
The Chorus Urbanus of Victoria beautifully executed the hymns. Refreshment were later served in the adjacent St Augustine Convent.
