From Birth to Childhood – A Christian Perspective Exhibition

Mr Joseph Said, Chairman of Heritage Malta, recently inaugurated an exhibition entitled ‘From Birth to Childhood – a Christian Perspective,’ at Heritage Malta’s premises in the Cittadella, Victoria, Gozo.
This exhibition, puts together on a small scale, a number of important works from the National Collection at the National Museum of Fine Arts with the ‘Virgin and Child’ theme.
The works consist of drawings, paintings and sculptures spanning almost four centuries, with the oldest work dating back to the 17th century. The works are by Italian and Dutch artists as well as local ones.
The theme, although a common subject in religious iconography, provides a diversity of representations and is also representative of a number of artistic styles and periods. Well-known names include Antonio Giorgetti, Stefano Erardi, Michele Bellanti, Francesco Grandi, and Anton Inglott.
The exhibition will be open until the 14th of January 2011. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm and Saturday 9.00am – 12.00pm.
