The Chorus Urbanus, of Gozo said its getting prepared to meet the wishes of their choral hosts ‘Corale Polifonica Jonia,’ of Sicily, who are celebrating their 50th foundation anniversary in style.
This choral tour to Sicily has all the ingredients to promise a truly memorable experience, and the ninth in a series of high-profile singing tours which have seen the choir singing at prestigious venues, both in sacred and profane spheres. As in previous tours, the choir will also have the opportunity to appreciate the natural panoramic wonders of eastern Sicily, namely Taormina, Gole dell’Alcantara, Giarre, Acireale, the imposing Mount Etna, Catania and Siracusa.
In connection with this prestigious visit, the Chorus Urbanus Productions team said it is publishing a souvenir booklet in Italian carrying information about the choir’s history as well as a cultural achievements roll of honour. This will accompany the official festival publication that will be in circulation during the festival.
The choir will be on tour from the 6th to the 9th of December 2010. The choir will be accompanied by the Citadel Video Communications troupe that will give coverage to the ‘Incontri con la Polifonia’ festival, the “Concerto dell’Immacolata,” in the Cathedral of Giarre together with the High Mass presided by HL Msgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, who has also been invited to take part in the Immaculate Conception feast held in this delightful town also known as ‘Jonia’ in older times.
