Jum it-Tifkira Remembrance Day commemoration held today

Mr Anthony Borg, Head of Secretariat within the Ministry for Gozo presided over the commemoration of Remembrance Day, this morning, on behalf of the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono.
The ceremony included song and mime by the Gozo School of Drama as well as the participation of students from the Gozo College.
The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Malta (Gozo section) also participated during this ceremony. Traditional red poppy wreaths were laid at the foot of the monument commemorating Gozitan victims who perished between the years 1939-1045 by enemy action during the World War II.
The monument, known also as Christ the King Monument, is a 1949 work of Italian sculptor Carlo Pisi and was unveiled by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on 7th May 1954.
