The Bank of Valletta and the Istrina organisers have launched the 4th edition of the BOV Istrina Campaign. The Bank of Valletta will be making available 7,000 piggy banks, to be distributed in all classes at all schools in Malta and Gozo, as well as to various retail outlets. These piggy banks will be used to collect donations which will go towards this year’s Istrina campaign.
The Campaign, that will involve some 65,000 children, was launched at San Anton School in Mgarr under the patronage of the First Lady Mary Fenech Adami. She was accompanied by Michael Galea, Head CEO’s Office at Bank of Valletta and Gordon Pace, co-ordinator of the Istrina Campaign.
“Over the last three years, since its inception, the BOV Istrina Campaign has raised Lm70,000. This underlines the popularity of the piggy bank campaign that has become an annual event eagerly awaited by all schoolchildren around the island”, said Michael Galea. “The large piggy banks that go around the island during the campaign have become synonymous with this fund raising activity. We are proud to be part of such an important fund raising initiative and look forward to another successful campaign”, concluded Mr Galea.
Talking about the campaign Gordon Pace said, “The BOV Istrina Piggy Bank campaign is targeting around 65,000 children in schools. In addition, the popularity of this initiative has lead to piggy banks being distributed to retail outlets around Malta and Gozo to encourage customers to also make their donation. The funds that are raised by this campaign will be presented during the live broadcast that will air on local television stations.”
Mrs Fenech Adami proceeded to carry out the first deposit of the BOV Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign by making a donation in one of the BOV Piggy Banks that will be used to collect funds.
