Historic women's cricket match played today in MaltaToday the historic women’s cricket match was played between the Alligators and the Falcons. Mr Bernard Vassallo, Chairman of KMS, was present for the presentation of the mementos to the captains Daniela Casha and Sara Vella Bonnici. He was happy that the game is progressing in Malta.

The teams played out a fifteen over game. The Alligators scored seventy four runs with Daniela Maggi being the main run scorer with twelve runs. Adelaide Sammut was next best score with nine runs. The Falcons only managed to score forty nine runs with Stefania Cassar top scoring with seven runs while Lucienne Desira and Claire Casha both scored five runs. Brenda Cutajar had a great day keeping taking three catches was involved in a direct hit run out.

Yesterday, the Division one league continued with two games being played. The First game was between Krishna C.C and Melita C.C. Frank Spiteri and Bikram Arora opened the batting for Krishna. Arora was first to go after scoring one run. Andy Lenard then scored thirty nine runs from thirty two balls including one massive six and three fours. Spiteri was finally bowled playing on to his stumps and scored nineteen runs. Runs then dried up for the Krishna team, A couple of batsmen scored ducks, John Grima three runs, Jim Heasman six runs and Simon Mayeeri two runs. Kevin Krishna held his own and remained unbeaten with eleven runs. Adam Krishna scored four runs and Javed Shah two. The Krishna team totalled 102 runs. For Melita, Mike Caruana was the main wicket taker with three while Will Nicholls and Gordon Hewitt both took two.

In reply, Melita had a shaky start losing Paul Kaye for a duck, Greg Symons for eleven runs, David Eynon for nine runs and Joy Ghoseroy for two runs. Seeing most of these dismissals was Andy Naudi who continued his good form and scored forty two from thirty balls. Tim Wheeler (eighteen runs) and Derek Ali (twelve runs) made sure that their team took the honours. For Krishna Adam Krishna was the main wicket taker with two. From the win Melita gained eight points and are six points clear of their nearest rivals Marsa with thirty nine points.

In the second game Krishna C.C were again in action this time against the Overseas C.C who batted first. The Overseas were bowled out for fifty four runs, with Sean Duffy top scoring with fifteen runs. Brian Corlett scored thirteen runs including a six and a four. Justin Barloggio and Piers Allen both scored five runs. Steve Cole was the main wicket taker with three for Krishna. Cole (twenty five runs) was again in the action with the bat in a match winning partnership with Sam Aquilina (twenty five runs). Krishna earned eight points from the win and have twenty one points overall.
