There have been conflicting reports on whether the lady victim was pregnant or not. If she actually was pregnant, then the dead victims were 7 and not 6. The presence of an unborn child among the dead victims was in fact acknowledged by parts of the media, and the little child was included in the sad count.

Besides, I would like to highlight the plight of the bereaved victims. They are suffering immensely. They are alive, no doubt, but they must have developed a new outlook on this difficult and painful life. No one can imagine the pain these bereaved relatives have to endure, unless he himself has passed through a similar ordeal.
We pray for the repose of the departed; and we ask the good Lord to take the bereaved in the palm of his hand and give them the solace and peace which only He can impart. At the same time, those of us who support the dreadful ‘delizzju’ of fireworks, should reconsider their position.
