Marsa C.C play Melita C.C at the Marsa Sports Club

On Saturday the blockbuster game between the two top sides of division 1 cricket was played. Marsa C.C won the toss and elected bat first against Melita C.C.
Mark G.Sacco and Dave Borg opened the batting. Sacco was first to go being caught for seven runs. Borg was next to go being run out after a mix up of calls. Borg made eight runs of eight balls. Nowell Khosla batted well not to his normal capability and managed to retire making thirty three runs from the thirty balls, which a lot of batsmen would be happy with. Ronnie Sacco lasted six balls before charging down the wicket trying to hit the spinner missing and being stumped by Wheeler.
Malcolm Crabbe batted extremely well scoring thirty eight runs not out from twenty seven balls including four fours and a six. Chris Naudi was cruising scoring twenty one runs from eighteen balls including a six, before being bowled by an inswinging yorker. Justin Thorne was the other not out batsman scoring eleven runs from six balls. The Marsa side totalled 136 runs. Mike Caruana was the main wicket taker for the Melita team.
In reply for Melita Joy Ghoseroy and Tony Slater opened the batting. Slater was the first to be out being bowled by Dave Borg. Borg also Bowled Ghoseroy who had made thirteen runs including two fours. Darren Grech was batting well making ten runs from eight balls before being caught. Andy Naudi batted well and made forty six runs before retiring. He hit five fours along the way. He was to return later in the innings and was only able to add two more runs to his tally before being bowled.
Derek Ali also kept up his great batting in the league. He also scored forty six runs before retiring. He scored four fours and three sixes. He also returned and also managed two more runs and remained not out. Adam Caruana was the other not out batsmen. Nadia Gosney had her first hit and managed to make one run before being bowled. The Melita team fell short by eight runs and managed to earn two points from the loss. Ronnie Sacco was the main wicket taker for Marsa taking three. The Marsa team earned eight points from the win but still sit second on the ladder to Melita who are six points clear.
Next Saturday Marsa C.C take on Overseas C.C at 10:30 am at Marsa Sports Club.
