Chairman’s XI played Captain’s XI in a thirty over game

On Saturday the Chairman’s XI played against the Captains XI in a thirty over game. The Chairman’s team batted first with Nowell Khosla opening the batting and top scoring for his side with forty one runs including three fours. Sarfraz Ali also opened but was run out for eleven runs. Will Nichols was also run out after a mix up making no runs. Ronnie Sacco played an interesting innings worth thirty nine runs not out and Chris Naudi played a very clever innings of thirty one runs not out. Adam Krishna scored eight runs and Tony Slater two for their side. The Chairman’s team totalled 157 runs. For the Captains team Gordon Hewitt was the main wicket taker with two while Robert Krishna took one.
In reply the Captains team fell short by twenty eight runs. Malcolm Crabbe played a superb innings of fifty two runs not out including four fours. Unfortunately he could not find a partner to stay with him. Robert Krishna scored nine runs,Mike Caruana thirteen runs and Joy Ghoseroy twenty eight runs were the main contributors. For the Chairman’s team Ronnie Sacco was the main wicket taker with three, Nowell Khosla took two and Pierre Naudi took one.
Last Wednesday Marsa C.C played the final game against the Royal Horse Artillery, a twenty over game in which the home side batted first and again put in a below par score. Will Nichols top scored with sixteen runs and three batsmen (Chris Naudi,Mark G.Sacco and Tony Azzopardi) scored twelve runs each. The Marsa team totalled a mere 87 runs from their overs. Luke Turrell again caused havoc amongst the Marsa batsmen taking five wickets taking his personally tally to ten wickets in the three games. Col. Jess Bennett took two wickets while Polius, Belfon and Worth took a wicket each.
The Marsa team bowled extremely well and made up for their bating, keeping the tourist at bay and only totalling 74 runs. Luke Turrell again top scored for his side with twenty two runs. Longbottom scored sixteen runs and Giles Malec eleven runs. Tony Slater and Sarfraz Ali were the main wicket takers for the Marsa side with two each. Will Nicholls, Tony Azopardi and Andy Naudi took a wicket each. The Marsa team win the series three to nil.
Next Friday the Marsa team play Saracens Riffs CC in a twenty over game starting at 3.30pm and a forty over game on Saturday starting at 10:30am.
