The Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost is issuing an Occasion Card tomorrow, the 29th of September, during the major exhibition of nine paintings by Caravaggio being organized by Heritage Malta. This exhibition will be held at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta between the end of September and the end of November.
The Occasion Card, No. 19 in this series, commemorates the 400th anniversary of the brief but eventful stay of Caravaggio in Malta.
This Card carries an imprinted stamp of 51c/Euro 1.19 value depicting his St Jerome, from the stamp issue commemorating the 400th anniversary of Caravaggio’s arrival in Malta.
This Occasion Card will be available in pre-cancelled format from the Maltapost Retail Outlet at Dar Annona, Castille Place, Valletta, as from the 29th September, from the Exhibition’s venue at the National Museum of Archaeology Valletta, as from Sunday, 30th September, during the Exhibition opening hours, and from all Maltapost postal retail outlets in Malta and Gozo as from Monday, 1st October.
