Schola Cantorum presents Organ Recital by Ewald Gargitter

Schola Cantorum Jubilate of Gozo, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. As part of this year’s celebrations, they are presenting an organ recital by Ewald Gargitter.
Austrian born organist Ewald Gargitter started piano lessons at the age of six, but at nine started organ studies at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz. He studied under renowned concert organist Prof. August Humer.
Gargitter studied Political Science, Law and History at the University of Vienna. Since 1996, he has been the organist and librarian at the Benedictine Monastery in Krems, Austria. He frequently appears as a pianist and organist with various vocal and instrumental soloists at liturgies and recitals around Austria. He accompanied Schola Cantorum Jubilate during mass at St. Stephen’s Cathedral and during a concert at St. Peter’s Church in Vienna during their music-cultural tour in September 2009.
Mr Gargitter will perform during a concert held at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xaghra, Gozo, on Thursday the 22nd of April 2010.
The concert will start at 7.30pm and the entrance is free. Everyone is warmly invited for this concert, which will include pieces by Bach, Galuppi, Boëllmann and Sibelius.
