Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer, Fair Competition, Local Councils and Public Consultation, Chris Said was in Victoria on Saturday to attend activities associated with World Consumer Day which will be celebrated on Monday, the 15th of March.
This activity for the public, organised by the Division of Consumer and Competition within the Parliamentary Secretariat was held to raise awareness among consumers. It was attended by various authorities and entities that offer services to the consumer. The theme chosen for this year is “Our Money, Our Rights.”
Speaking to those present, Chris Said said that this message, ‘Our Money, Our Rights,’ although a simple one, applies perfectly to consumer policy in general. It is a clear message that the consumer is an essential part of the economy of our country, of the European Union and the world, therefore the consumer, as an important player in the market, must be helped and if necessary offered protection for the economic interest.
“The phrase, though so small, ‘Our money, our Rights,’ has very important implications and this is the purpose of this activity, that we as consumers have a central role in our economy, ” concluded the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Consumer Affairs.
