Nature Trust Malta voices concerns on Ta’ Marga valleyNature Trust (Malta) has expressed its concern on the issue regarding the application for developments in the Ta’ Marga valley in Qala, comprising an apartment block with basement garage and houses with pools causing high risk to the Qala valley ecologically landscape value.

NTM said that these development applications fall in the outside the development zone (ODZ) and within a valley system that deserve high protection value.

NTM added that it is also informed that in the report carried out by the Malta Resources Authority one of its senior hydrologists reported that this development could cause a risk flooding in the area. NTM said it feels that many of our flooding problems in Malta are related to unsustainable and ill planned development and therefore calls on the DCC to make sensible decisions moreover on the eve of the reform of Mepa reform.

In regards the permit it looks lie everyone is against it

Mepa pls put a little bit of common sence in your head and refuse this permit for good

Isn`t this what ECO Gozo is all about?

Everyone seems to be against it except MEPA and the developers!
Unfortunately, I suspect that in most ODZ cases, or obvious illegalities, money talks much louder than regulations….

It is becoming very obvious to the outside world and this I might add has been the case for some time now that something within MEPA is rotten to the core. Personally I used to believe that when MEPA Chairman Andrew Calleja was replaced things would change, but this has not been the case.

The same seemingly corrupt decisions that were taking place then are taking place now. It would appear that as far as MEPA are concerned ODZ stands for Obvious Development Zone!
