Mr Etienne Micallef Head of Operations, Master Instructor, Secretary General of the Gozo Branch for the Malta Red Cross Society, is returning from Swaziland South Africa. He was taking part in a project ODA (Overseas development Aid), which also falls inline with the South African Disaster Response teams’ infrastructure.
Initial reports from Mr Micallef showed that the First Aid courses that are being taught are going very well. Mr Marvic Attard, Instructor, Emergency Medical Technician, also hailing from Gozo, commented that “Swaziland will soon have its own First Aid Instructors.”
The team departed Malta last week and were in South Africa for a total of 18 days, where there objective was to teach Instructors how to train others in Basic First Aid. This project will be of a huge benefit to the community as it is primarily aimed at the most rural and impoverished Divisions.
