Jason Vassallo claimed the first competitive cup of the season in Gozo when he faced Shaun Sultana in a final game which he won 7-5. The game brought to an end the Gozo Snooker Cup, organised by the Gozo Billiards & Snooker Association last Friday, the 22nd January of 2010.
The final game was followed by the trophy presentation ceremony by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono and Dr Michael Caruana, President of the Leone Philharmonic Society which hosts the sport. The event was coordinated by Mr Mario Apap. The game was followed with particular interest by a sizeable crowd, throughout the whole 4 hours. A renewed interest was generated given that this was Shaun Sultana’s first time in a final match.
During the event, the Association confirmed a 26-hour snooker marathon and the one-day tournament against the Anglo-Maltese Club (Valletta), both to be held at the Leone Band Club in Gozo. It was also announced that the same Shaun Sultana is going to represent Malta in the European U/19 Championship to be held at the Dolmen Resort Hotel, this March 2010.
