The feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul celebrated in Marsalforn reaches its climax between Friday 22nd January and Monday 25th January 2010 according to the following schedule of events:
Friday 22nd January: Feast of Saint Publius, the first Bishop of the Maltese Church. Last Day of Triduum. Arts Day.
5.30pm: Solemn Vespers led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Cini.
6.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by Rev. Canon Mario Borg who delivers the homily of the last day of triduum. The Nativitas choir animates mass under the direction of Silvana Agius and accompanied by organist Ivan Attard. After mass, the new hymn to Saint Paul will be sung and there will be the presentation of the hymn’s music score to the Rector Rev. Can Michael Borg.
7.15pm: Inauguration of an exhibition ‘Marsalforn through the ages’ by Hon. Dr. Chris Said LLD MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.
7.30pm: Talent show including local singers and musicians.
Saturday 23rd January: Eve of the Solemn Feast. Culture Day.
5.30pm: Solemn Translation of the Relic of Saint Paul venerated with great devotion in the Collegiate Church of Rabat (Malta). The translation will be led by Rev. Canon Louis Suban, Archpriest of Rabat, with the participation of the Collegiate’s Chapter and clergy.
6.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by Rev. Canon Louis Suban and animated by the Marsalforn community’s choir, Chorus Unda Maris, under the direction of Carmen Cini.
7.00pm: Inauguration of the ‘flame of faith’ at ‘il-Qolla s-Safra’.
7.30pm: A pop music concert by the local band ‘Mistaken Identity’. The audience will be led by Hon. Dr. Chris Said (Parliamentary Secretary) flanked by Zebbug Mayor Mr. Charlie Saliba and Xaghra Mayor Mr. Joseph Cordina, the Vice Mayors Mr. Joseph Bajada (Zebbug) and Dr. Christian Zammit LLD (Xaghra) and the local councilors.
Sunday 24th January: Feast of Saint Paul.
8.00am, 10.00am and 11.00am: Masses with homily.
4.00pm: Solemn Vespers led by Mgr Carmelo Refalo, Xaghra Archpriest, together with the Reverend Chapter and Clergy of the Xaghra Collegiate Basilica. A choir of seminarians animates the vespers.
4.00pm: Festive Band Marches by the Victory Band of Xaghra (A.D. 1898) and Santa Marija Band of Zebbug (A.D. 1995).
4.30pm: Procession with the titular statue of Saint Paul along the main streets of Marsalforn bay accompanied by the two guest music societies and aerial fireworks.
6.00pm: End of procession followed by a Solemn Pontifical Mass led by H.E. Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. The liturgy will be animated by an orchestra under the direction of Mro. Colin Attard.
Monday 25th January: Solemn Liturgical Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul.
6.00pm: Solemn High Mass led by Rev. Canon Reuben Micallef, Archpriest of Zebbug, together with the clergy of the same parish. The Regina Angelorum Choir animates the liturgy, under the direction of Ms. Maria Cefai.
