The 20 finalists of the Malta Eurosong contest to select the Maltese entry for the European Song Contest were announced last Saturday by the local contest organisers PBS.
The 20 songs to reach the final were shortlisted from 36, they were all performed on the TVM programme Sfida, after which a jury and members of the public cast their votes to select the 20 finalists. Among the finalists there are two singers who are both members of the Chorus Urbanus, Pamela Bezzina and Ruth Portelli.
A ballot was held which decided the running order for the final night. The final song will be chosen through a 50/50 voting mix of foreign jurors and public televoting.
This year there will be no super finalists as was done in the last edition and there will also be no formal prize giving for second and third place as the votes will be announced live, exactly as it is on the actual Eurovision.
The contest will be held on Saturday, February the 20th, at Ta Qali Fairs and Conventions Centre.
