As previously announced, Archbishop Emeritus Mgr. Joseph Mercieca, Mr. Franco Masini and Magro Brothers (Foods Ltd) have been nominated to receive the 2009 Gieh Ghawdex awards.
The awards will be presented to the awardees by the President of Malta H.E. Dr. George Abela during an activity to be held at Palazzo Palina, Ta’ Cenc Hotel, Sannat, on Saturday, the 16th of January 2009, starting at 6.30pm.
Bass Noel Galea accompanied on the piano by Mro. Stephen Attard will be participating in the Activity.
The ‘Gieh Ghawdex’ award, now in its fifth edition, was instituted by the Circolo Gozitano in 2005 as a means to honour personalities or organisation who through their work would have given an outsdanding contribution to the socio-cultural and economic development of Gozo. The ‘Gieh Ghawdex’ is also awarded to individuals or organisations have who have contributed to the preservation and promotion of Gozo’s distinct identity.
The award conferrment ceremony will be followed by a gala dinner. Tickets for the six course dinner at €35 per person (€33 Circolo Gozitano members) and can be obtained by sending a request by email to circologozitano@gmail.com or by phoning 99456851.
