New lift inaugurated in school at Bishop's ConservatoryA new lift has recently been inaugurated in the girls secondary school of the Bishop’s Conservatory in Victoria. This lift will allow accessibility to all classes and facilities at this school which currently hosts more than two hundred student attending forms 1 to 5, and is one of two church secondary schools in Gozo.

A programme of activities was arranged for the occasion and it was attended by, among others, Ms Margaret Abela, The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Consultation, Chris Said and His Excellency Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. As well as speeches given for the occasion there were also displays of singing and dancing by students, including a wheelchair dance routine by a student who attends the school.

The project of a new lift in the secondary school now has led to classes and facilities at this school being accessible at any level, including those in primary school which is part of the complex. The Head of School, Ms Rita Sultana explained how this project has been useful to the school to carry out its function for inclusive education. She said that this project depended on the generosity of many parents making donations, as well as donations from the Malta Community Chest Fund, it unfortunately still leaves a substantial amount to cover related expenses.

The lift was inaurgurated by Ms Margaret Abela and then blessed by His Excellency Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, who visited the facilities after school together with the The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono and Parliamentary Secretary, Chris Said.

The Minister for Gozo, praised the initiative taken by this school which through its work is contributing in the educational field in Gozo.
