GO acquires exclusive Italian Serie A rightsGO, has announced that it has secured exclusive local broadcasting rights for the Italian Serie A for the two football seasons 2010/11 and 2011/12. The rights cover live tv coverage, as well as coverage on the internet and on mobile.

This announcement comes a few days following GO’s acquisition of another prestigious sports property – the Barclays Premier League, which rights were acquired exclusively for the seasons 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13.

Commenting on this further sports acquisition, GO Chief Executive Officer David Kay said, “With the addition of the Italian Serie A, GO has positioned itself as the leader in the provision of sports content to Maltese customers. GO is extremely delighted to have also acquired the exclusive rights of another important league in Europe – the Italian one which, together with the English Barclays Premier League, are followed every week by thousands of Maltese and Gozitans.”

“This is a defining moment for GO as we establish partnerships with the world’s most exciting football leagues.” Kay added.

GO will soon announce early bird offers for its sports packages, which include football, rugby, tennis, motorsports, golf, horseracing and boxing, amongst others.

Currently, GO’s Sports+ channels includes English football club channels, and events such as the English FA Cup and Community Shield, England Qualifiers and Internationals, Formula 1 racing, Wimbledon, ATP Masters Series, Fed Cup, Davis Cup, Augusta Masters, US Open, PGA Open, British Open, Ryder Cup 2010, PGA European Tour, Tri Nations Rugby Cup, Guinness Premiership, Heineken Cup, EDF Energy Cup, Churchill Cup and Autumn Internationals, amongst others.
