Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party expressed its support of the symbolic protest walk organised by the Circus Animal Right coalition which includes AD’s Youth section – ADZ – on the 10th of December.
Michael Briguglio, AD Chairperson said, “‘AD is supporting the proposals being made by the 20 NGOs forming the Circus Animal Rights coalition. We urge all those who believe in animal welfare and animal rights to participate in this walk. Circuses should not carry out the cruel exploitation of animals in the name of leisure and profit.”
Simon Galea, Spokesperson for Animal Welfare and Agriculture added, “AD calls upon the government to commence discussions with all NGOs and individuals involved in animal welfare to improve and enforceexisting animal welfare laws. Certain specific issues need to be addressed through a better legal framework.”
The walk will commence at City Gate Valletta on 10/12/2009 at 6pm and will proceed to Blata l-Bajda in front of the circus
