Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, Chris Said, attended a primary school activity in Qala where the initiatives of the Eco-School, together with those of the Local Council were working together in the seperation of waste. The children wanted to lead the way in helping the environment.
The Qala Local Council decided its initiatiative was by motivating the local residents to separate waste, with the effective message of involving their children.
Said Chris congratulated the students for their involvement in this initiative which was a leading example to adults and encouraging all residents to separate waste in Qala. Children who are involved in this activity will be convinced of the importance of separation and recycling of waste and will ensure that future generations will be able to protect the environment, said Dr. Said. "Once all locations and our country are doing their part to face the global problem of air pollution and climate change," he concluded.
A representative of Waste Serv was present for the occasion and explained to the school children the importance of separating waste.
Qala Local Council also distrubuted informational flyers to residents, as well as aiding the seperation by having bring in stites.
At the end of the activity, students along with teachers and Councilors, toured around the homes of the locality distributing bags and a package of ten grey bags to every family residing in Qala.

What a good idea, this should be done in all localities on the island. Children tend to mimic adults, but hopefully in this case the adults will ‘mimic’ the children!
It looks like Qala council is doing it utmost to save the environment Well done
