Bethlehem f’ Ghajnsielem opens this coming Sunday, major attractions for this year include an enlarged bakery with functional oven, new structures at market area and the Inn where visitors can go on the roof terrace to enjoy the panoramic views of Ghajnsielem and Ta’ Passi fields.
A fresh water spring complete with a mill will be flowing around these structures through a small river to enhance the atmosphere. Over 10,000 litres of water will be used to create this impressive effect. Visitors can also enter inside the carpenter’s house and watch the father at work with his wife cooking and children playing around (…or sleeping).
Each house is animated with a family, played by actors, to remind visitors that the story of Christmas revolves around a family. Over 150 actors and 25 ushers are needed for the animation to run smoothly.
Recently, Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo together with Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue visited the volunteers at ‘Ta Passi’ fields.
The nativity village will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi, this coming Sunday, the 6th of December at 5.00pm. and will remain open until the 3rd of January 2010.

Before “Bethlehem” starts, let me just say this….
I have personally witnessed, every day, all the hard work, sweat, blood and tears that people have put into this beautiful project.
All done vountarily by people with pride and passion.
Thanks for reminding us all how it should be in this world.
You are a credit to Ghajnsielem and Gozo.
