New youth ambassador appointed by Oasi Foundation

Sarah Caruana, 25-years old, from Tarxien, was appointed the ambassador of Maltese and Gozitan youth for the year 2009, during a ceremony held in Gozo and organised by the OASI Foundation.
This honor is given each year during an annual ceremony done with the aim to give recognition to young people in the field of volunteering, as well as to project a positive image of the young people of our time. The OASI Foundation has been organising the award for the past seventeen years, which invites nominations for young people between 16 and 29 years. This year there were seven eligible nominations, all were awarded a trophy in recognition of voluntary work within various organisations performing in Malta and Gozo. Sarah Caruana was designated by Josef Debono, the priest of Tarxien, Rev. Ruben and Paul Deguara Farrugia, for her work with young people in particular the ZAK group.
The evening was chaired by HE Anton Tabone, Acting President, who spoke with the founder and director of OASI Foundation, the Rev. Fr Emanuel Cordina.
The Acting President Anton Tabone said that the ceremony was a great tribute to these young people who devote their time to the multitude of community commitment and congratulated the winners on their achievments.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, was also present for the ceremony and congratulated the winners on their achievment as well as praising all the young people who commit their time to the community. The Minister for Gozo also thanked the Foundation for their work aiding people.
