Dr Ray Bondin has advised yet another Government on the possibility that their heritage of a city is important enough to be nominated for the World Heritage List of Unesco.
The city in question is Edirne which is an important historic city on the Turkish border and which is mainly known for its mosques, especially Selimiye Mosque which is being nominated for World Heritage. Ray Bondin led a number of international experts that discussed the management of historic cities.
The seminar was organised by the Governor of the area and the Mayor of the city. During the same occasion the Mediterranean Committee of CIVVIH, the International Committee of Historic Towns and Villages, held its annual meeting there. Ray Bondin is the worldwide President of CIVVIH, a position he has occupied for the past seven years.
