Around 50 Maltese and foreign students who are pursuing courses in diplomacy at the University of Malta this year and are part of the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies (the MEDAC), recently made a cultural visit to Gozo.
During their visit, these students met with Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo, at the Ministry, who spoke to the students and underlined the commitment of the Ministry for Gozo in respect of the socio-economic development of the island. She explained the role of the Ministry and the particular challenges presented in the field of employment. The Minister gave an idea of what will be the core of the work of the Ministry in relation to the Eco-Gozo vision for this island.
Apart from the Maltese and Gozitan students who met with Minister Debono, there were students from Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Albania, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Tanzania, China, Czech Republic, Iceland, United Kingdom, Romania, Russia and Slovenia.
The Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) is an institution for advanced learning that offers courses in diplomacy with emphasis on Mediterranean themes. The programme consists of courses in International Law, International Economics, International Relations, Diplomatic History and practice of diplomacy.
For the end of this year, the MEDAC will organise an international conference in Malta that will mark the 20th anniversary of the Academy, with the theme focusing on the end of the Cold War and the Mediterranean.
