Gozitan artist, Paul Haber is exhibiting “Fired Imagination”, a collection of ceramic sculptures, at the Banca Giuratale in Victoria. The exhibition is being held in collaboration with the Gozo Cultural Council and sponsored by Bank of Valletta plc and Alka Ceramics Ltd.
True to the title of the exhibition his imagination is fired by his constant interaction with nature, whether it is the peaceful, rural environment of his studio at Mtahleb where he created most of his works, his idyllic homeland Gozo with its beautiful coves, rock formations and clear azure waters or the luscious underwater where he feels at home amongst the natural wonders found in the sea around our islands.
Paul is not concerned with process, which comes to him naturally but with making the sculpture that he is compelled to produce by an inner urge to express himself, to divulge his fantasies and to share with others what his artistic subconscious being reveals to him.
Paul studied art and sculpture in Malta, Rome, Perugia, and for seven years in London, from where he got his degree in ceramics. Paul Haber has been teaching ceramics in government schools with his last post being that of a visiting lecturer at Malta College of Art and Design.
Following many collective exhibitions and personal shows in Malta, United Kingdom, Greece, Egypt, Italy, Germany, Japan, Canada, Denmark, New York, Washington DC and Connecticut in USA, Paul will now be showing his work in native Gozo.
“Fired Imagination”, which brings together a number of Paul Haber’s ceramic sculptures, can be viewed at the Banca Giuratale, Independence Square, Victoria. The exhibition is open daily, Mondays to Fridays from 7.30am to 12.45pm, Saturdays from 8am to 11.45am, and from 1pm to 3.45pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 11.45am. The exhibition will run till August the 31st.
