Sophie to officially welcome Robin Gibb to Malta

Sophie to officially welcome Robin Gibb to MaltaMalta’s young pop princess Sophie, will officially welcome Bee Gee music legend Robin Gibb and his party to Malta, when they land at Malta International Airport on the afternoon of Friday, the 4th of December, to accept this year’s Malta Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of The Bee Gees.

Sophie is absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to represent Malta’s up-and-coming young singer/songwriters, with Robin Gibb being on record as the 5th most successful British songwriter of all time. The Bee Gees have sold more than 220 million albums, an astounding number of sales, only ever bettered by The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.

The Bee Gees music literally revolutionized the face of nightclub dance, with the launch of the movie ‘Saturday Night Fever’ in 1977, which was quickly followed the following year by the movie soundtrack to ‘Grease’. Up until Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album, Saturday Night Fever was the biggest-selling album of all time. Their hit records – written for themselves and countless major international artists are innumerable!

Sophie is also hugely honoured to have been invited to take part in a ‘Let’s Talk Music’ Malta TV special with Robin Gibb, that will be recorded during Mr. Gibb’s visit to the island.

She will perform the TV premiere of her new single GIVE IT UP! at this year’s Malta Music Awards event and she is absolutely thrilled to have had the opportunity to co-choreograph this number with Malta’s leading dance light, Felix Busuttil. Of the YADA Dance Company.
