During a concelebrated mass at the National Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Ta’ Pinu, Bishop of Gozo Mario Grech formally handed a number of mandates to lay persons who take an active part in liturgical celebrations. These included lectors, cantors, animators during mass, and ushers.
This celebration, part of the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress currently being held in Gozo, was the conclusion of a week of Liturgical Formation organized by the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Gozo. Close to 120 persons participated in the week of formation during which, a number of priests who specialize in Liturgy delivered a series of lectures on several aspects of public religious worship, such as the celebration of the mass, rubrics, chant, readings, and other Church rites.
