The International Council of Monuments & Sites (ICOMOS) has held its annual administrative and scientific meetings in Valletta in collaboration with Heritage Malta.
The week long meetings were held in the Mediterranean Conference Centre. More than 150 delegates from all countries in the world attended including a large number of Presidents of National Committees and Presidents of the International Scientific Committees.
Some of the meetings were also held in the offices of Heritage Malta. The delegates were shown around a number of world heritage sites, including Hagar Qim and Mnajdra. Most of the delegates praised the new shelters at the two sites. The delegates also praised the organisation of the meeting and were all impressed with Valletta.
Many important decisions were taken during the meeting including the Dubrovnik-Valletta Principles for National Committees. A Scientific Council, dealing with the effects of global climate change on heritage, was also held.
