Nearly 8,000 persons visited the Inquisitor’s Palace and the Malta Maritime Museum last weekend during Birgufest. For this event Heritage Malta offered a reduced price on the entry tickets to these two sites. Of these nearly 4,000 were school boys and girls who on Friday morning visited the two sites free of charge and were given a guided tour by Heritage Malta staff.
Heritage Malta seeks every opportunity to encourage the Maltese public to visit the museums and sites which fall under its responsibility so as to promote further the knowledge about Maltese history and culture amongst adults and children.
During this year’s Notte Bianca more than 17,000 persons visited Heritage Malta’s sites and museums in Valletta. All these visits were free of charge, another proof of Heritage Malta’s commitment to educate the Maltese public.
Those who were in Vittoriosa had the opportunity to visit an exhibition of models of altars that are found in Maltese churches and chapels while during Notte Bianca they could visit an exhibition about the Maltese artist Antonio Sciortino and another about the statue maker Carlo Darmanin.
