AEGEE-Valletta’s summer university, reunited 45 students from 19 different European countries to be ‘Knighted in Malta’ after ‘The Final Crusade’ which lasted for two unforgettable weeks in Malta.
Summer Universities are organised by students for students with the aim of opening a new perspective to the participants over the multicultural dimension of the European continent. Indeed the 45 venturing crusaders were taken back by the AEGEE-Valletta crew to a time where the knights reigned over the Maltese Islands and Grandmasters demanded respect, a time which made Malta renowned worldwide.
The participants experienced a holistic cultural integration into Malta’s traditions, history and social life. AEGEE-Valletta made sure that every hidden treasure was found including walking down the streets of Valletta the capital city, swimming in the crystal clear Blue lagoon and enjoying the Maltese Cuisine.
The AEGEE participants spent a day on the beautiful island of Gozo, where they had time to admire its landscape at the top of the Cittadella. They also visited the Azure window and Ramla l-Hamra.
At the end of the day, Dr.Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, shook hands with each participant welcoming them to Malta at the Grand Hotel, Ghajnsielem, where a small reception was held making the students feel at home. Dr Said emphasised the prominence of NGOs organising similar activities and said that this should be encouraged. He also chatted with the students about their personal interests in Malta.
