Solemn Eucharistic Adoration being held in Marsalforn

Church of St Paul MarsalfornBetween today, Thursday the 20th, and next Sunday, the 23rd of August, the Christian community in Marsalforn under the spiritual direction of Rector Can. Michael Borg, is going to celebrate the feast of the Holy Eucharist in the days normally known as Kwaranturi.

It makes a great deal of sense to organise this feast at this time, when Marsalforn is literally crowded with Gozitan and Maltese people having their annual summer holidays.

The programme of celebratory activities will be as follows:

From Thursday, the 20th to Saturday, the 22nd: Solemn Quarant’Ore

7.00am: Holy Mass.

9.00am: Mass animated for children.

Between 9.30am and 10.00am: Eucharist Adoration for children.

6.00pm: Holy Mass.

6.30pm: Eucharistic Adoration and recitation of the Holy Rosary.

7.30pm: Solemn Mass with homily regarding the Mystery of the Holy Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Organist Ivan Attard animates the celebration during these three days.

Between 8.15pm and midnight there will be Solemn Eucharist Adoration in the church of Saint Paul. The Adoration will be animated by several people from the Marsalforn community. Everybody is invited to spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The adoration closes at midnight by another mass.

Sunday, the 23rd of August: Feast of the Holy Eucharist in Marsalforn and end of the annual Quarant’Ore.

7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am and 6pm: Mass with homily.

7.00pm: Solemn Vespers in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

7.30pm: Solemn Concelebrated High Mass presided by H.E. Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, with the participation of the priests who render regular service in the church of Saint Paul. The Nativitas Choir of Xaghra animates Mass under the direction of Mrs. Silvana Agius and organist Ivan Attard. Mgr Grech delivers an occasional homily.

8.30pm: Solemn Eucharist Procession along the main streets of Marsalforn led by Bishop Grech. As the procession enters the church at around 9.15pm, Eucharistic benediction is imparted thus bringing to an end these four days of festivities related to the annual Quarant’Ore at the church of Saint Paul in Marsalforn.
