The poor cleaning service in Victoria on Sunday 15th July during the feast of St George Martyr, has been blamed on KIP, the public cleansing cooperative in Gozo. The main areas affected were, Independence Square, Republic Street and Savina Square.
Victoria local council said that all preparations had been put in place for the work to be carried out. The contractor was contacted by the mayor in the afternoon, and he had confirmed to the mayor that all was ready to begin.
The cleaning service was not in fact carried out, and the contractor was unable to give details of what had happened. Local residents were unhappy with the poor service, and felt the council were to blame.
The council apologises for the inconvenience that was caused to local residents, and would like to assure them that in a council meeting to be held on 24th July, the contractor will be taken to task over the matter to ensure that it could not happen again.
